We have Best of American SFF, Best of Canadian SFF, Best of British SFF. I wish so badly that editors take up the task of editing an yearly Best of Latin American SFF as well. It would be great!

Good literary translation requires understanding (language, culture, genre--on both sides of the translation) and an ability to write well. "AI" can't do that. There are no shortcuts. Treat your work and foreign language readers with the respect they deserve. You won't fool anyone with this.

This year's Żuławski Awards have been announced. The Żuławski Award is awarded to Polish science fiction and fantasy novels by a jury composed of academic literary scholars (each with at least a doctorate). I don't think there's any English-language equivalent of that?

Is there any fiction in translation from transfemme authors writing in Arabic or Chinese? Obviously there are difficulties in those parts of the world for "trans fiction," but I'm curious if there's anything out there.

A few translators I always read, as much for their skill as for the novels/authors they choose to translate. Alex Zucker tops that list and his latest, PLAYING WOLF, by Czech author Zuzana Říhová, fits squarely in one of my favorite genres: literary fiction enhanced by horror tropes.
