We should not be arresting our unhoused neighbors. What we're witnessing on our streets is cruel, counterproductive, and unacceptable. Federal agents should not be patrolling our streets, terrifying our residents, and taking people away. The federal surge needs to end.

Mayor Bowser, "shared priorities" with this administration means having masked agents disappear our neighbors in the middle of the night. It means soldiers with assault rifles in our neighborhoods. It means arresting children. These are the priorities of a dictator. DC does not share them.

The Commanders stadium itself, it's becoming clear, is only an amuse-bouche for the far bigger subsidy Josh Harris is set to receive via rent-free use of city-controlled property for private commercial development.

Without action on the ‘District of Columbia Local Funds Act of 2025,’ the continuing resolution passed by Congress would force the District to deal with one billion dollars in budget cuts that are completely avoidable. The District’s balanced budget is already paid for, mostly by local tax-dollars.

Nearly 1 in 3 Black children in DC live in poverty, compared to just 1 in 100 white, non-Hispanic children. Census data show extreme racial inequity in DC’s child poverty rate, and little progress towards addressing it in 2023. Read more from

Take Action Today: Congress’s plan to fund the government includes slashing $1.1 billion from DC's local budget. These are not federal funds but your *local* tax dollars. This decision would lead to fewer teachers, police, firefighters, and EMS and jeopardize essential city services. 🧵 (1/3)

No one elected their Congress member to micromanage how the District spends its own tax dollars or to slash D.C.’s budget in a way that will have widespread, damaging, and completely avoidable effects. Congress doesn't need to shut down D.C. in order to avoid a government shutdown.
