There’s another attempt to delay Ranked Choice voting at today’s Legislative Meeting at the Council. I’m against any effort to delay, and I’ll be voting against it today. Will update after the meeting.

Tonight, Councilmember Allen joined neighbors for the 12th Annual Capitol Hill Menorah Lighting — a reminder of resilience, hope, and the importance of coming together when those values matter most.

CM Allen joined the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health to discuss recess—b/c physical activity isn’t a break from learning; it’s part of it. He shared how DC’s Healthy Schools Act makes movement a core part of the school day, b/c healthy kids learn better, and they deserve time to move.

A safety fix is finally on the way at 3rd & H NW, thanks to advocacy by the Mount Vernon Triangle CID & neighbors. CM Allen has been pushing DDOT to make this connection to Cobb Park safer, and this winter, the long-missing crosswalk will finally be installed! – Team Allen

Missed trash pickups in October? You weren’t alone — complaints to our office jumped 6x as DPW missed homes and entire blocks. Today, I pressed DPW on fixes and pushed for better, secure trash bins. I’ll keep holding them accountable to get reliable service to all residents. 🗑️

From the morning parade to well-loved family recipes and neighborhood gatherings that stretch the leftovers one more day, this is a really special time of year. Happy Thanksgiving, Ward 6!

I am horrified by today’s attack on two members of the West Virginia National Guard. My thoughts are with their families and fellow Guard members as they mourn this senseless tragedy tonight.

No need to delay: Not only did the Board of Elections clearly state that they are ready and capable of implementing ranked choice voting, but the voters already told us how they "assessed the need" by overwhelmingly passing it at the ballot box.

I thank the Mayor for her many years of service and leadership to our city. I know she loves DC – her commitment and dedication to her hometown are unquestioned. Public service can take everything you have to give, and I’m glad she’ll be able to enjoy more time with her family. wapo.st/4puWQU7

Last Friday, I spent some time with the people working behind the scenes at DC’s convention center. They shared that they are losing shifts, are understaffed, and need more investment for a safe workplace. Thanks to Unite Here for organizing and standing together for our workers.
