The numbers are in: 4,000+ residents picked up free salt from our pop-up sites this weekend. Salt—combined with sunlight, above-freezing temps, and continued work of crews across DC using heavy machinery—will help resolve remaining trouble areas in our neighborhoods this week.

Snow hauling operations are ongoing in DC as crews work to remove snowcrete. Over 900 loads are hauled daily to disposal sites like Carter Barron to ensure safer travel & restore full operations. Temporary lane closures may happen during work, so use caution near work zones & give crews space.

We are continuing the Snowcrete cleanup as our crews focus on clearing intersections, bike lanes, and streets throughout DC. Please travel safely and be cautious of icy spots. Thank you for your patience as we work to remove snow from neighborhoods.

We know teams have been working day and night the last 5 days to deliver after a storm that was really unprecedented in the way it presented in this region. A big, big thank you: we recognize you've been away from your families and working in very treacherous conditions.

In DC, we got snow, and then ice, and then many more days of cold weather that has turned into almost concrete-like conditions. Our approach remains: we focus on how we keep people safe and how we get open.

Ice and snow are not melting—so crews are hauling them to the RFK site. As of this morning, the mound was two stories high and the length of two football fields.

The work continues to make sure our city is fully clear after DC's unprecedented winter storm. Crews are using heavy machinery to break up snowcrete—with a focus on clearing buildup at intersections and curbs—and hauling it to the growing mound at the RFK site.

We're not building a recreation of The Wall from Game of Thrones.... But DPW & @ddotdc.bsky.social are hauling hundreds of tons of snow, ice, and "snowcrete" every hour as we work nonstop to clear roadways.
