ICE is engaged in a very large escalation nationwide, with the agency claiming to be hitting record arrest numbers amid the return of quotas. This has gotten very little attention from the media because ICE learned lessons from the chaotic disasters of Kristi Noem’s tenure. Keep a watch.

Confirms my experience as a volunteer election worker, including printer problems, electronic touch machines are a little old, and the new rank choice voting ballot just takes longer. Also, lots of last minute voters this time around, maybe just human nature to postpone dealing with something new.

More people should run for ANC and there should be more competitive races. Too many people coast in, which makes bad behavior like this easier because it’s not on neighbors’ radars.

One of the people spreading this lie was ANC 7D09 commissioner Ashley Schapitl. If you live in Hill East and want to give your neighbors representation that’s actually in touch, she’s up in November.

There were some ugly claims on X that Janeese was the candidate of white “transplants” while McDuffie was the choice of longtime Black residents. But it looks like McDuffie will only win ward 3 (wealthy, white) while Janeese will carry every other ward (including majority-Black wards 7 and 8).

For the @dcdemocrats.bsky.social elections, the insurgent @freedcslate.bsky.social will be taking over the state committee when they're seated next month with about 3/4 of the seats. Current chair Charles Wilson and vice chair Linda Gray look to be staying on the committee. #dcpolitics #dcdems
