There's always a slate of mostly incumbent party members running for Democratic State Committee. This year that's "Democrats United to Free DC". Avoid them and stick with "Free DC Slate" if you want change in the local party.

Canvasser for the anti-bottle deposit group rang our bell to try to get a sign in our yard. Politely told him "I'm from Michigan, bottle deposits work! I'm completely opposed to what you're selling." He said "but small businesses!" and I said "Michigan has small businesses. This doesn't hurt them."

Some reporter should try and finally figure out if Jacque Patterson ever paid the tens of thousands of dollars of fines he owes for campaign finance violations in previous campaigns. OCF was never able to tell.

Cross-endorsing with someone who deliberately bounced government checks to the Boys and Girls Club and has repeatedly broken campaign finance last is the kind of thing that absolutely loses Doni my vote. I have no love for Elissa but Patterson is one of the most corrupt local politicians.

Ever wonder what happens after #SidewalkPalooza? When you submit a 311 request for sidewalk repairs, DDOT sends out folks to assess conditions and that’s when you see white paint on the sidewalk cracks and tripping hazards. That confirms it’s in their system for repairs.

It was a beautiful, great day to canvass for Janeese Lewis George in Shepherd Park. ☀️ I love running into neighbors and friends, meeting new people, and talking about one of my favorite candidates and elected officials.

Thank you to the ten volunteers, including five students, who joined today’s Takoma Community Cleanup. 💚🚮 We collected 19 bags of litter weighing more than 60 pounds. That included a holiday wreath, more bottles than we could count, and even a pineapple! 🍍

I stand with workers, with immigrants, and with everyone who calls DC home. On May Day, we’re reminded that our fights are connected. From the picket line to the push for a free DC, this is about us having power over our lives. We show up. We stand together. And we don’t stop.

Fondly remembering as Mother’s Day approaches canvassing for Chair and meeting a new-to-me neighbor who invited me in for cake and good conversation. It was so kind and generous!

Research shows that people often think they’re the only ones who pick up trash, and it’s super motivating to learn that they aren’t alone!

Just dropped a bag of supplies with a neighbor hosting a bonus #SpringCleanUpWeek cleanup tomorrow. And having the enthusiasm carry forward feels so nice. People really are inspired to do cleanups when others do them, too!

If you're a DCPS parent of an older kid, you got an email about a settlement over issues like this where your kid's data got sold and resold. There's also a lawsuit pending against iReady (another DCPS contract) for similar issues.

We need a comprehensive review of speed limit signs on DC streets by @ddotdc.bsky.social This is the 1400 block of Trinidad Ave NE. I can cite many other examples throughout #Ward5DC with similar problems. You can’t enforce the rules if you don’t make it clear to drivers what the rules are.

It was great to be part of today’s Free DC Activist Street Fair!❤️ It was a space full of ways to take action, connect with local groups, make art, and build community. I especially loved hosting speed neighboring. Neighbors shared what got them involved, how they show up, and what gives them hope.
