Just picking up on the Juliet Bravo query in this ep, I assume it was called this because Juliet is "the only woman" in the phonetic alphabet and Bravo, also in the phonetic alphabet, is just "Well done". They could have called it Juliet Delta, to match Jean Darblay's initials, but Bravo is better.

We've had January off, but the podcast returns next month with UFO. In the meantime, here's our back catalogue.

@squarewindowpod.bsky.social A brilliant Xmas episode. My 'Motley Hall' story. Back in 99, Freddie Jones lived in Charlbury, Oxon. I worked there and most days had lunch in his local pub. Sat next to him at the bar one day and mentioned TGOMH. He roared with laughter hugged me then bought me lunch!

As usual, I really enjoyed the podcast, this time for two main reasons. Firstly, I knew nothing about Castaway 2000, yet still found the piece fascinating, and it sent me on a trawl through the newspaper archives. The whole thing sounds like a nightmare.

Two months late, but I finally listened to this - enjoyed it a lot, especially the Knightmare stuff, loved that show, and have occasionally watched a bit on YouTube - still holds up. On Twin Peaks FWWM - my own view on the level of violence is that it's horrific, but still justified. (cont)

This episode reminded me of the dispute between John Noakes and the BBC over his desire to do an advert featuring his catchphrase, "Get down, Shep!" I still say that whenever the cat jumps to where she shouldn't be, even though that's not her name. Completely did for Noakes' TV career, didn't it?

Watching Candleshoe again because of Gatiss' rant on @squarewindowpod.bsky.social What is interesting that though the exteriors are proper US, the interiors are clearly UK - Michael Balfour and Mildred Shay as her guardians, but it still feels more American than British.

I love the fact that this very weird show has been covered by the mighty Phil and the excellent @squarewindowpod.bsky.social in the same week. It fills me full of Christmas cheer.
