My depressing thought for the day: it seems increasingly inevitable that quite soon, Trump decides to simply disregard a court finding that some of his actions are illegal or unconstitutional. Impeachment is attempted & fails thanks to loyal Republicans. At which point there are no good options.

Great breakdown. The fact that CFI felt the need to respond at all is so telling of where they’re at.

Bans on trans people for supposedly biological purposes perpetuate harassment and abuse, not just towards trans individuals, but towards any women or girls who don’t fit the white Christian narrative of femininity.

I agree with Zvan. The word “shill” is a straw man, but they ARE allying themselves with WCN, advancing narratives that perpetuate harassment and abuse of not just trans individuals, but of any women who don’t meet a certain bar of white Christian femininity. And they’re ignoring science to do it.

This piece is both an excellent response to the situation with Coyne and FFRF and an excellent piece in its own right on striking the balance needed for genuine accountability and growth through restorative justice practices. Worth a read even if you don't care about secular inside baseball.

Dawkins, Pinker, and Coyne have all resigned from FFRF’s honorary board because of the orgs decision to retract Coyne’s anti-trans bigotry screed. Further clarifying which side of the ethics debate those three are on. Here’s a sample of the post, complete with name-checking critical social justice.

Dawkins, Pinker, and Coyne have stepped down as honorary board members of the FFRF. It’s important that people with transphobic views recognize that those views are unwelcome in secular spaces or in secular work. I hope the FFRF reflects that from now on.

Apologies shouldn’t be 80% “look how great I am” and 20% “sorry I’m not perfect all the time. I did mess up this one time. Sorry.” Center the people you’re apologizing to, explain the damage so they know you understand, and correct the misinformation you used your platform to spread.

Looks like @ffrf.bsky.social took down the article, which is definitely good. Now they just need to apologize and issue a correction, not just try to pretend it didn’t happen.

@ffrf.bsky.social seems to have taken down the anti-trans blog post from one of their honorary board members. A step in the right direction. Now it’s important to correct the misinformation, apologize, and support the trans community. Accountability must be taken for trust to be rebuilt.
