It is 22 years ago today that my best friend, Nick Everton, died. He was 17 years old. Not much time to leave a mark on the world you would think. But those of us who knew him came away irreversibly altered by even the short time we shared together.... 🧵

It’s with a very heavy heart that I share with you the news that Prof Kristjan Jessen has passed away. Kristjan with his wife Rhona were at the forefront of the #Schwanncell field for over 3 decades. Kristjan was my first scientific mentor & he taught me a lot. He will be sorely missed.

Just finished the Peripheral Nerve Society meeting in Edinburgh #PNS2025. The last few days have been a whirlwind of science and medicine with inspiring talks and great posters in everything to do with peripheral nerve. It’s also been great to catch up with old colleagues.

I think what’s most noticeable on @bsky.app is the number of comments of people feeling liberated after leaving X/Twitter. This clearly highlights the negative impact on #mentalhealth that social media can have on us all. What we see and read on a daily basis affects us in a pervasive way.
