In my catholic primary school our class (second or third class I believe) went on a school trip to watch this at the cinema. I have found memories of it but have no idea how it holds up.

Just got out of Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die. It was… okay? The opening scenes were fun. But it largely didn’t work for me.

In a world filled with overpaid executives saying profoundly stupid things, this is bafflingly dumb.

The thing is, I’m not even as staunchly anti-AI as some people. There are some things it does well and could be of benefit. But this general-purpose, fancy search and generative nonsense permeating every app can get in the sea. It is nonsense masquerading as importance.

In Ready Player One, the protagonist drives a DeLorean with a Ghostbusters decal on its side. I remember that seeming unrealistic for a character who loved that 80s pop culture. He’d want the DeLorean to be accurate, surely? But maybe I didn’t give Ernest Cline enough credit.

I watched The Strangers: Chapter 1 yesterday and it’s like watching The Strangers again but worse. It is the most pointless film I’ve ever seen. And there’s two sequels???

I’ve fallen out with online friends over this fucking company. All tech has uncomfortable truths we choose to ignore, but that drone metal Game Boy was like something from a Verhoeven movie. Fuck this company. It’s looking like it’s just a MISTer anyway - buy a SuperStation instead.

I cannot fathom using AI as a writer. I have absolutely (albeit reluctantly) used it in my software job, as it’s quickly becoming the norm. But writing is intrinsically human. Journalism requires an attention to detail that should not utilise AI in this way.

Technically I no longer have vocal cord palsy. My ENT doc has discharged me, my cords are moving normally. But my voice isn’t the same. It’s better than it was, but it’s weird that even though I’ve always hated my voice I now miss it as it was ME, you know?

My venture back into writing has hit a roadblock this week. Not the writing part, I’ve not even reached that stage yet. Finding the time and energy to play through the game I’m reviewing is proving difficult.

I don’t think UK SNL is going to work, but I think the line-up is good at least. Also, infuriating to see people comment on it going “I don’t know who any of these,” as though SNL’s lineups are ever picked from the milquetoast stand-ups you buy DVDs off from HMV.
