In 2011 I started working in downtown Phoenix, not far away from a section of Roosevelt Ave called Roosevelt Row. It had free parking, my favorite bar of all time Lost Leaf, a bookstore where my friend did slam poetry in the backyard, an ice cream bar that sold their stuff in Chinese takeout boxes,

So my bartender invited me into a conversation about someone running out on a tab and basically it was either "eat the tab or get written up" and the person wanted to split the way with the other server, who thought it was unfair. My first thought was "it's fucked up you have to eat this"

With millions at risk of losing SNAP in the coming days, a reminder: hunger doesn't happen in isolation. When food assistance disappears, families use rent money to eat. Then come evictions and homelessness. Housing, food, healthcareāit's all connected. Cut one thread and the whole thing unravels.

I have been going to punk shows for the past two decades and have met plenty of guys with questionable tattoos. Unless the ink is fresh, they know what it means, and they can either talk to you about it in a knowledgeable way or you should stay the fuck away from them.

This year's Treehouse has some great ideas, but awful endings. If they didn't undercut the first and second endings I think the third would have been fine, but with three it just feels weak

This is one of my favorite episodes and is a soft foreshadow of a new season episode. Dale wants to try basket weaving, is bad at it, Hank is good because it's simple rules and craftsmanship, which he is good at. Hank appreciates things is my favorite episode type

One of the problems with addressing this topic, and why it's not more widely known, is that the name of the program is a slur. This is why on TV they often say "the administration is modeling their actions on a 1954 operation with a racist name" then just move on without describing it. Which sucks.
