A week ago a squirrel stole someone's chocolate and oat granola bar and crawled onto my second floor windowsill to enjoy it's ill-gotten loot. I accidentally scared it away and it fled, leaving behind that granola bar. It is still there. Just sharing because it's very exciting.

This game still slaps. Don't think I've ever finished it without using passwords or continues until today.

No shooting in this game. Your weapons are tools - one of them is the Adjuster. With this device you must fiddle with knobs and match the enemy's 'wavelength' to destabilize them until they burst.

On that note, I miss platformers where every 3 levels you're playing a completely different genre without any explanation of the controls because you just need 2 buttons and a d-pad.

Not even joking here, the term "gameplay loop" has done immense damage to creativity in video games, both AAA and indie.

Just the other day I was thinking how a lot of indies have been lifting mechanics or feel from AAA wholesale, and that I'd prefer they'd make them a bit more distinct... But dang, I'd love to see this battle system in other RPGs.

I think this every time I play Panzer Dragoon Saga, but someone should make an Ecco RPG in this style. The exploration and battle system would work just as well with you swimming instead of flying, and Ecco's vibe would be a great fit for this sort of lonely, desolate single character RPG journey.
