Fran McCaffery was dismissed from Iowa today after 15 years. UMass fans recall the school passed on Fran in 2001 in favor of Steve Lappas. Fran left for Siena in 2005 and then to Iowa in 2009. Would have lost him anyways in 2009, so at least we got 6(-1) head coaches to experiment with.

On a personal note, both Joe Harasymiak (football) and his wife Brittany (women’s soccer) were student-athletes at local Springfield College. For six years (2008-2014), Brittany was a teacher in the South Hadley school system before joining Joe in Orono, ME.

I swear this athletic department doesn’t think through the impact of anything they do. You can’t tell the players the collective is gone without a corresponding plan on how you handle that for the fans/alums. This is very basic stuff they keep screwing up
