For the first time since April 2023, City beat Arsenal in a game of football. And I think the big thing is that Guardiola changed how the game was played, rather than it being played on Arteta's terms.

Guardiola gets the better of Arteta
Pep Guardiola got the better of Mikel Arteta, with the Arsenal manager too slow to react to the game in front of him.

Funny thing is one of the guys that most needs replacing is the striker brought in the summer (I don't disagree at all btw)

William Saliba withdrawn from France squad with a left ankle injury. He joins Jurrien Timber, Eberechi Eze and Martin Odegaard as Arsenal players who will miss out on international friendlies.

this is the issue. this is why the game turned. we couldn’t play it out because we don’t have small space players through the team.

There's going to be a narrative now and we're going to have to deal with it. We've been second best for an hour. Can't lay a glove on them.

Robert Vilahamn on Jessie Fleming's effort tonight "I don't normally want to pick one player, but Jessie Fleming today is absolutely the player of the game. I think she was [for] the first game as well. She's so dominant that she's feels like she's on a different level ..."

A premier league season is only 38 games long, but because we got close the previous 3 seasons but fell short, this season's title charge has felt like it's been going on for 152 for us fans, this group of players, and the coaching staff, which is a big reason why league games feel so life or death.

Liverpool's issue is they're too dependent on set pieces for goals.

The Liverpool fans were right. Martinelli should be banned until Conor Bradley comes back.

Doesn't surprise me that Havertz came off almost exactly on the hour mark. Switching out Madueke for Martinelli is hard to explain. Feels like this is bound for a game where Arsenal came in the final third. If I were taking Madueke off it'd be for someone more small space.

Arteta keeps think Gyökeres and Martinelli are going to do something together. They're not going to.

think we’ve played really well this half. very annoying not to have capitalised but if we play like this in the second half we’ll be fine.

it’s mad how misdiagnosed this is. it’s not an issue of a lack of quality; it’s an issue of a surplus of quality. all PL teams are too good, and they are too well coached. it creates tight, cagey games. good players executing well coached mid blocks and low blocks = find another way = set pieces

A little worried about this Spurs run towards relegation. I think they're absolutely gone. There's no way the football gods let us have this and winning the league.

Massive appreciation for Havertz today. His sub made a massive difference towards Arsenal's ability to grab a foothold in this match.

Arsenal are still effective from those situations and have continued to score from them but the reliance hasn't really existed for ages. Before yesterday, Arsenal's last 12 PL goals hadn't been from corners. It was a couple of months since a goal from a corner actually earned Arsenal any points.

Arsenal are underdogs compared to some of the other big spenders in the Premier League (compare wages with Liverpool, City etc) and so set pieces is a leveler.
