I didn’t make any new year’s resolutions on 1/1. Now, sitting here on day six of combo strep throat and head cold, I am making two for 2026: 1) don’t work on sick days, and 2) teach our 3.5 year old how to cover his sneezes (with something other than my face).

Faculty governance is a myth. even at my CA school, admin make the final call always, but then emphasize that they listen to input and agree with faculty most of the time, which is not the same thing As true shared governance.

Yesterday my kid (3.5 yo) told us he had to go upstairs first “because I’m the expert!” Today he called me over excitedly to show me his blocks. We apparently created a tiny psychology professor 😂
