I found this gate unsecured on the Bow River MUP at the bird sanctuary today. Further S along the MUP I found a city crew in their pickup - didn’t know anything about the gate but agreed that it was a danger and said they’d take care of it. Was secured when I saw again a few hours later. 👍 #yycbike

Given the drop in vehicle volumes and the major investment in bringing more residents into the downtown core, why has there been no public discussion to switch all the one-ways into 2-way roads? Seems like a giant miss in making the downtown an actual community people might want to move to. #yyccc

The particularly problematic thing is that no meaningful capacity is being removed on 132 ave. It is massively over-built and there are high capacity roads just north and south of it. Adding bike lanes ADDS capacity to the overall network, and bike lanes consistently improve traffic flow.

We took a tour of 132nd Ave from Fort Road to 127th street to check out the neighbourhood renewal underway. When you see the before & after of the bike paths going in, it's obvious how it makes for a healthier, happier, and safer community. #yegbike #yycbike #yeg

There are at least 8 schools on or near this section of 132 Avenue, which includes long stretches with 4 lanes plus 2 service roads on each side for car traffic. There is plenty of space to build 1 protected bike lane so kids riding their bikes to school can do so safely outside of car traffic.
