One day later, hard packed roads are in prime condition, and lots of residential walks are cleared, so riding is possible if you don’t mind hopping back and forth between the two. Uncleared city paths are barely even walkable, though. #yegbike #yeg

#yegbike updates: Most SUP in Mill Creek N and area have been cleared, except for one stretch adjacent to the Muttart LRT station for some reason. Mill Creek Bridge is passable, albeit a bit on the icy side. Neighbourhood roads still a mess in Bonnie Doon; take the sidewalk when possible.

#yegbike commute, pm update. The 87th Ave MUP from End of Steel Park to Millcreek has been semi-cleared, and is quite rideable. MillCreek path is in beautiful shape. Tawatinå Bridge and up the cliff to Grierson Hill MUP good snowpack. 96th Street from Jasper to 111th Ave still unrideable sludge.

Hopefully there is some focused clearing overnight but if you're working tomorrow, be aware #yegbike. Conditions aren't great across much of the city.

Mill Creek today was bladed with lots of grit. Outside of clearing to bare pavement, this is the best way to maintain bike infrastructure in the winter during a deep freeze. The biggest issue comes when the freeze-thaw cycles arrive if crews aren't working during the melt. #yegbike #wintercycling

Riding conditions update: Where infrastructure was bladed to a packed layer of snow, studded tires easily bite into the icy crust from the freezing rain. Gotta love that satisfying sizzling sound while riding through Mill Creek. #yegbike

As has been the case every year since it was rebuilt, 105 Ave is also poorly maintained.

Apparently no one told snow and ice control about 103 Ave. It should get the same priority as the route it's a detour for. #yegbike If you have to travel this way tomorrow, maybe take the lane.

102Av bike lane is solid pebbled ice. Skill level: expert

Mill Creek is easily rideable with studded tires today as the plowing has filled the ice ruts with snow. Other areas that have been brushed down to the ice, like Grierson and some downtown bike lanes, are still quite treacherous. #yegbike

Ice ruts make for vexatious winter cycling. If your front wheel slips down one side of the rut and rear wheel slides down the other side, it's near impossible to stay up. With our recent slush fest followed by flash freeze, they're waiting to strike in even the best maintained bike lanes. #yegbike

These are the only two spots I rode today that did not make me want to say bad words: 1 - East High Level Bridge deck. Only the deck, definitely not the approaches. 2 - MUP by the High Level Bridge Streetcar tracks where the snow was nicely packed. Everything else was flavours of yikes. #yegbike

Conditions in the northeast are no good. Couple cm of slush everywhere. Very slippery.

With sparkly snow gently falling over iced up surfaces, tomorrow morning's commute could get dicey. Through the Leg Grounds, the only surface not covered in ice was the skating rink, and the sloping 106 St bike lane south of Jasper is primed to pull tires sideways from under riders again. #yegbike
