I feel like I hate this idea.

“I always got the flu vaccine, for like years and years I got poked and never once got the flu so why would I continue to get the flu vaccine? I don’t think I’m at risk” An actual conversation i overheard today.

We made it out for one last 2025 BVP ride. The 7s (they are 7 now!!) did spectacular as always and used their birthday money to purchase Johnston Canyon goats. 6 hours, 50 km, a few tears, lots of smiles, and now an exhausted family.

Somehow we have gone from toddlers riding in the urban arrow to independent riders and I’m not sure how I feel about it. I am so proud of how independent these two are and I love all that them riding brings but I am still struggling with the fact that they don’t want to ride in the UA anymore.

It’s ok to kill people with your car as long as you stick around and let the police know you are the one who did it. You won’t be in trouble or anything, the police just need a name to attach to the report.

My 6 yr olds have endured more smoke hours in their lifetime than I did over the course of decades. Even with consciously trying to minimize exposure, I have to wonder what the health effects will be.

First day of grade 2 was a smokey one but we still got out there on our bikes. Happy to see full bike racks and lots of parents arriving with kids on bikes this morning!

A parenting win.

When two sets of twins plan a play date where they bike to Johnston’s Canyon for ice cream the parents make it happen. I will say the 45 km return trip was much easier emotionally with 2 more parents and friends but it took at an additional 90 minutes compared to the spring.

#Twin parent life is the annual tradition of getting the welcome email from the teacher—then having to reply and ask which twin it’s actually for.

Today was the seasonal wake up before dawn to sign your kids up for swimming lessons day. Logged in at 5:30 to get into the queue, registered by 7am. Better than previous years but still a process.

I think this is one of the great benefits of living in an urban setting and my children going to the community school. My daughters see friends everywhere we go and get to have spontaneous play dates at the playground just because we were walking or biking by.

Is it really about bike lanes Alberta?

I always feel like there is a problem with our transit system when it will take over an hour to get to my destination but 13 minutes by car and 45 by bike. The destination is 15km from my home but the drive vs transit time seems completely unacceptable.

Summer days are riding your bike to and from the outdoor pool in your swimsuits, listening to music and being outside. Side note- the pink polka dot swim suit is my first attempt at sewing a swimsuit!!!

Tracking our bike kilometres this summer. This is the last 7 weeks of biking for my 6 year olds. I love that they are so excited to mark the charts daily!

I periodically get these electricity usage reports. I have updated our appliances, we turn lights off when we aren’t using them, we do most of the stuff advised but we are always in the fair zone. I wish condos had more options to be energy efficient when the condo board isn’t inclined.

I told my 6 yr olds that they would get prizes when they hit certain milestone distances for riding their bikes. We started on Saturday and they are already at 26 km and I’m thinking I may need to reevaluate the milestones. #yycbike
