I did not expect this video to have made me go down this many rabbit holes. Arthurian legend, Celtic myth, a certain director's filmography. I'm gonna be lucky if this thing exceeds a few hundred views but by gum I'm gonna give it some effort.

We really have lost a sense of craft. Was watching CONEHEADS recently and was amazed how much wonderful practical effects work there was. And this was for a "middling" 90s comedy that came and went.

So #AniSky #Oldtaku - apparently there's been an indie called Shinsei Galverse that's a love letter to 80s/90s anime. A mix of magical girl, sci-fi and Saber Marionette J-style designs. I love it. And it's premiering on Youtube in less than two hours. What a time to be alive.

I love this sorta stuff. Seeing what got left out is often as intriguing as what was kept in... though I feel for people who work on this stuff to wind up unsung/unseen except for these little peeks.

Finally got a chance to see Sinners (2025) via a rental on Fandango at Home. Great film. Strong performances, great production design, tension that you could cut with a knife. Ryan Coogler does some surprising things with cinematic language, and the denouement went to unexpected but positive places.

It's they alternate between normal boring fist/gunfight and utterly cuckoo banana nutso weapon. Okay bang bang now here come the ice skate nunchuks. #FilmSky #Ballerina

Watching BALLERINA now Can already tell it's not exactly gonna be a classic, but be damned if they're not trying and they manage some inspired beats I'm gonna remember.

One of my favorite videos this year was my (underperforming) Ed Wood retrospective. The most difficult yet most satisfying part was doing some research for it. I remember often going to my university library and devouring book after book on all kinds of obscure films. Habits to revisit #FilmSky

We go to a picture theatre that has silent movies and a man playing a 100yo organ...it mainly has Buster Keaton movies but there are a few others also. It's wonderful to see families of all ages experiencing a piece of the past.
