One last reminder, being white AND disabled do not cancel each other out. White disabled peeps are still white. You can't use your disability as a shield against looking inward to how the disabled global majority have it.

This entire Jimmy Kimmel situation shows, again, white folks can shut all this down whenever they want. But they won’t because they’re not against authoritarianism and hate. They’re just against it when it affects them.

And others have pointed out that government criteria for various forms of welfare look rather like coercive control - like financial abuse, where one party uses their financial resources to coerce and control someone who depends on those resources to survive. #auspol

Like, studies keep showing UBIs can be cost-effective, even taking into consideration 'free-riders' (in the strict economic sense). Yet many people want _no_ free riders, and seem willing to pay an arbitrary amount towards that, even if it ends up costing them more than a UBI would have. #auspol

Many - most? - taxpayers supposedly voting for 'small', 'low-cost' government seem to _actually_ want government that coerces / controls / punishes marginalised communities - Indigenous people, the disabled, those in poverty, sex workers, queer+tgd people, etc. - whatever the financial cost. #auspol

To be fair, though, prior to this severe chronic pain episode, a lot of my spoons and time were spent on supporting and caring for my partners, who are _also_ disabled, as free labour. Obviously it's more cost-effective to make life more difficult for _three_ disabled people at once. 😛 #auspol

So, the Australian government can't afford to address my severe chronic pain promptly, or to cover the cost of pensioners' CT scans, or to cover surgeries to prevent cancer becoming terminal, but can afford hundreds of billions for a defence pact with authoritarian governments. #auspol #aukus

i'm disabled. For several months, i've been in severe chronic pain, often leaving me unable to do basic tasks. Only things that have helped are cannabis oil and injections of cortisone+botox, latter costing several hundred per set after rebates. On pain team wait list, which is months long. #auspol

In fact, most of this money goes towards trying to abolish sex work (which is not sex trafficking). Anti-trafficking moralizers are intent on further traumatizing, harming, and killing (which their rhetoric and policies do) both survivors and sex workers for the sake of their personal interests.

Its very telling that these people think the only "good" nsfw art is the art that shows "healthy consentual acts" when nsfw work has been an avenue to discover and share the painful and complex parts of peoples experiences for years and years.

Many sex workers are queer. Many trans people are queer. Queers who are willing to throw sex workers and trans people under the bus in an attempt to protect themselves from being targeted are actually throwing many _fellow queers_ under the bus.

And yesterday a queer friend told me she'd noticed queer people starting to back away from supporting trans people. This doesn't surprise me; i've been expecting a certain subset of queers to try throwing us - many of whom are, like myself, _also_ queer! - under the bus. #auspol
