Also forgot to add that when they're talking about their 'huge' playlist - of course this is mostly catalogue music - so suggesting it in the same breath as 'new' Scottish music is misleading. To get a new track onto the station playlist isn't going to be easy.

Worth a watch/listen, questioning the 'evidence' given to the Scottish Parly's Constitution, Europe, External Affairs and Culture Committee by BBC Scotland on revisions to their Scottish music output. We would add that barely any music is released around Xmas/New Year, so comparing Dec/Jan is daft.

Such a blow for Scottish artists. As if it’s not already hard enough. Watering this down to a bland schedule was never the answer. In the meantime I’ll continue to shout about the Scottish artists I like and listen to.

I love Scottish music. Over the decades it’s brought me a lot of joy. Still does. The homogenisation of radio to pander to some weird media idea of who an average listener is in 2025 means losing access to younger bands and those at the fringes. The BBC should support grassroots music everywhere.
