basically, your average patriarchal society does not have a "gender binary" so much as at least 4 distinct gender categories which are hierarchically arranged: Man, Woman-Child, Monstrous Trans Third Sex, & Desirable Adolescent (Fem)boy.

Once you really fully recognize that this isn't "identity vs biology" but rather individual self-determination being suppressed in favor of an ideologically constructed schema, it becomes infinitely clearer what's going on.

So I can't help but notice that all this brouhaha about single sex spaces and trans exclusion from them is eliding the axiom underlying the panic. Namely: taking the normalization of men's violence against women as a given that cannot be meaningfully ameliorated except through sex-segregation.

In this model, misogyny is a destined facet of womanhood, not a structural force systemically barring women from fields, avenues, and arenas that they have full and equal right to. It is a denial of the very notion of women's liberation and a refusal of the very possibility of sex-emancipation.

This enshrines patriarchy as 'natural', sex as immutable, and misogynistic oppression as inevitable. If I can be so bold as to go there, it's a reification of womanhood as an innate and *disabling* category, with misogyny flowing from "biology", not patriarchal oppression.

Okay. Not-a-lawyer-butt. This to me is the tell. Women's oppression defined explicitly as a "shared disadvantage" resulting from "shared biology". These are steps to formalize womanhood as a reproductive role, synonymizing it with certain features of anatomy that are "naturally" disadvantaged.
