this is endlessly frustrating in discourse about youth liberation. the whole point of treating kids as people with autonomy and giving them more rights is so they are *less* likely to be taken advantage of or abused.

I don't post much about youth liberation but that shouldn't ever be taken to mean that I don't care about it. You've got a whole class of people who are legally considered property of their parents and flat out have far fewer rights than adults do, and seemingly every adult is just fine with that??
