I designed this dude a long time ago but never got around to actually testing him out in-game. Finally sat down for some gamedev this weekend and tested him out.

Back into gamedev after a bit of a hiatus. Working on some patterns that'll require the player to dodge and weave through later in the game.

Bat Galaxy is becoming more of a weird mix of Star Fox and Zelda. Now I've got Zelda-style doors that unlock after clearing a room. #gamedev

So my game is slowly going beyond being just a Star Fox style rail shooter and I'm adding metroidvania-ish and Zelda-ish dungeon style exploration to it. #gamedev

More gamedev progress this week. Added one way doors that can be knocked away as well as enemies that use the same mechanic. Also improved the target shots a lot

Some more gamedev progress. Been meaning to finish this dude's implementation for a while. He can dodge some basic shots and the easiest way to take him out is knock his shots back.

Basically finished implementing the lock on in my game, Bat Galaxy. It's useful for pivoting behind targets to hit their weak point, and it automatically adjusts distances for things like bosses.

Saw the original clay models and design docs from Earthbound this week. I first played it almost 30 years ago as a kid and had no clue what I was doing, but kept coming back to it later and it ended up influencing my decision to get into gamedev. I feel incredibly lucky to have seen this stuff irl

Doing some gamedev for Bat Galaxy today. Punching the handle on this gate spins the handle and opens it up.

Doing a bit of gamedev 🎮 work tonight and designing something inspired by old Yes album covers. I feel like it's a good combo with Star Fox style action. (And yes, the text is test dialogue :)
