With great sadness, I heard my PhD mentor, Frans Claas unexpectedly past away. He was extremely knowledgeable and taught me all about HLA and allo-reactive cells. But most of all, he was most generous, kind, and really funny. Frans, thank you for everything!! I am proud to be part of your legacy 💔

Reading another paper stating: "pregnancy is a state of immune suppression", Ugh.. is NOT! It is actually a state of immune activation & inflammation that is needed for placental tissue remodeling & establishing tolerance! Yes, immune suppressive Treg cells require activation! #placenta #Immunology
