A Black man was killed by ICE (off duty) in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve. And like Renée Good, he was an American citizen. But most people have not heard about Keith Porter. I need y’all to realize this. Black people experience this lack of visibility all the time when it comes to being victims.

Looks like ICE is now cracking down on … Native Americans. This letter was just posted by the chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North/South Dakota: “Our Nation is a sovereign government and our members are not immigrants. We are not subject to immigration enforcement on our own lands.”

Those social media smear campaigns against women, especially queer women, laid the path to people celebrating the murder of a queer woman by a man in a uniform who called her a “fucking bitch” afterward. They unlocked the entitlement and rage to cheer gender-based violence from the online sidelines.

Interesting to see men in black beanies with crackling radios when I did my morning ritual for the earth this morning. I'm not intimidated. I'll see you tomorrow and the next and I will only champion Native-Americans' cause harder. I wasn't meant to survive, but I did and this is just the beginning

I think the best way to respect the memory of Renee Nichole Good, the poet killed by ICE, is to read some poetry and write a poem. Snatch back language from the jaws of death. Which is also one of the reasons I went back to learning Irish.

That is what I've been saying for years. Before I developed an illness, a woman called me "crazy" and urged me to kill myself. She has continued to describe me that way even though the things I have that anger her-- Loving parents, a wonderful boyfriend-- have nothing to do with my illness.

There were people in 1970 who thought the student protesters at Kent State deserved it when they were shot to death. I’m reminding myself of that so I don’t fall into denial and imagine the sadistic glee I’m seeing on X about the ICE shooting is new. It’s not. It’s a strand in our cultural fabric.

I should make a wishlist for things critical race theorists should consider but number one would be the fact that "white" is a fake homogenous category imposed on all European-descended ppl, who had to relinquish their traditions, language and culture to become this amorphous thing "white Americans"

There was a suggestion this morning that some ppl's reading lists were not diverse enough. My reading list has books from Latino, Indigenous, and Arab authors. You know what's fascist? Diversity counts in reading. You should just read what makes you happy. That's all.

We have also flooded their countries with weapons and sent military advisors in previous occupations which they turn and use against their own people. We have not exported democracy. We have a toxic culture which exports violence, suffering, and corruption.

I hate to rant on about the drug war being a political front but you can see now the political and economic value inherent in claiming drugs as a rationale for invading Latin American countries, who produce drugs for an American market because the demand is here, not in their countries.

"All About Eve" the film is a portrayal of how an older woman meets a younger woman who professes to be her "biggest fan" and proceeds to take the woman's career and her husband. The end? NO. Because eventually the woman meets another younger woman who professes to be -her- "biggest fan".
