Don’t just say DEI as if it’s a bad word. Spell it out. Say diversity, which is the lifeblood of American society & culture & innovation. Say equity, which a just society should pursue. Say inclusion, because decent people believe in increasing belonging, not isolating people who are different.

I just saw a LinkedIn post that blamed leetcode in interviews for a super minor UI bug on the platform. Not only is the mode of hiring unrelated to the type of bug but the type of bug was very likely introduced by a junior dev learning a new legacy codebase. It was very disappointing energy

I will never cease to be amazed by books. Seriously. Just think about it; thousands of people read the same book, but in everyone’s brain’s the characters look different, the setting changes etc. We are all reading the same thing, but it's so unique to each of us. That is a beautiful thing.

The entire industry of programming doesn't revolve around React.js. There are some areas that do not use it at all and completely disregarding those other areas is foolish. There are many paths in tech. The world of programming doesn't begin and end with a JavaScript library.

Having survived the Lahaina fire storm and now watching the LA fire storm, I am convinced we need to retire the "once in a lifetime" characterization. We are living in the time of climate change & insufficient infrastructure investment. This will happen increasingly & we need to meet that reality.
