The downside to the all in one integrated shoulder was that they could not install the normal large plate to hold the pivots of the appendages. Instead each pivot was loosely held in with plastizote foam, which meant they could slip of of position and inwards into the shoulders.

Seeing the cover art for the Atari 7800 version of Asteroids struck me with an overwhelming desire to replicate it with physical models. #shiptember

Another advantage of the Imperial Daleks being made out of moulds (one each for neck, shoulder, and skirt), is that SFX explosive Daleks could also be made from them. The moulds were sprayed with expanding foam to make a lightweight prop that could be swapped in when required to explode.

The Imperial Daleks (1988) were the first to integrate all the shoulder components into one mould. Before this, each component (including the gun boxes) was added to a core shoulder component - very time consuming work.

I've been refreshing my Plasticity skills (Nurbs modelling software), so you know what that means - more Daleks This is an Imperial Dalek (1988) with approx 1 1/2 days working on it The shoulders with integrated collars, mesh and slats were far easier in Plasticity than in Blender.

Is it weird if I release the Columbia class in 1:1055 scale before the NX? Or should I make the NX + refit real quick and do them all together?

I'd go with pre-TNG/Lost Era using my Lost Era fan ship designs personally, but that's just because I've been dreaming of a Lost Era series.

#Shiptember Day 21 USS Stargazer

For #StarTrekDiscovery day I thought I would share some art. These were the four variant covers that I did for the @idwpublishing.com #StarTrek Discovery Adventures in the 32nd century comic book series. Each book focused on a lesser explored characters from the show.

I had kind of forgotten about these! In #StarTrekDiscovery we spent a not insignificant amount of time in the mirror universe. We learned of a resistance group and their emblem was comprised of 'logos' of other races... And I had a breakdown graphic at one point, but I can't locate it now.

Lots of updates - Timing adjustments, Sparks and flame improvements, I added more debris, and debris/shield interactions, as well as adding Romulan Disruptor fire and SOUNDS! I'm quite happy with how this ended up looking.
