#Wolf359OnThisDay The sacrifice of the Excalibur has brought the Enterprise the time to catch and stop the Borg Cube, Captain Riker mounts a daring plan to retrieve Picard 1/2

#Wolf359OnThisDay The Borg are proceeding towards Sector 001 and for the Enterprise to have any chance to catch the Cube they need it to stop. Captain Riker puts out a call for help which is answered by Captain kaMpande and the Excalibur.

#Wolf359OnThisDay Several ships were boarded by the Borg at Wolf359, they were then taken and headed away from the system at incredible speeds, onboard the USS Hood Chief Engineer Alison Obena was able to stop the Borg taking the ship, but at incredible cost 1/2

#Wolf359Onthisday 12 hours since the battle the Enterprise makes it to Wolf 359, All they find are the hulks of dead ships. But there is no time to stop and search for survivors. The Borg are still heading to Earth and they need to find a way to stop them 1/2

This is the type of fannish stuff I loved growing up. So, so well done!

What a colossal achievement — another astonishing book by @tranquilitypress.bsky.social of course, but also a showcase of just how massive and talented this community really is. 2026 is going to rock.

Before my time on STO, the holographic recreation in-game about the Battle of Wolf 359 was heavily inspired and drew from this project, and I'd started working on Jayce's Fighting Ships of Wolf 359 as a community run followup to that :)

Would love to see something similar for @eomproject.bsky.social at some point

This is fantastic. A real labor of love that enhances the Trek universe immensely. On par with the effort to render hi-res interior deck plans for the NX-01 (and refit) from years back.

#Wolf359OnThisDay The battle is over. The Cube has decimated the federation forces. The ship remains Wolf 359 system for around 30 minutes before moving outside the graviton fields effects and resumes its course for Sector 001 at Warp 7.

#Wolf359OnThisDay It is clear now the battle is lost and Hanson attempts to rally the remaining ships to retreat. Momentarily buoyed by message from Enterprise his hopes are dashed since the ship is 12 hours away. The fight does not go well...

#Wolf359OnThisDay The fleet is systematically taken apart ship by ship. The Borg methodically focus down one ship after another, harrying them until they are disabled and then destroyed. The USS Kaneda valiantly keeps fighting with Lt. T'yrish Ellis at the helm, but to no avail.

#Wolf359OnThisDay The battle rages as the fleet desperately attempts to inflict any damage to the cube, but their weapons have almost no effect. In the midst of the battle several ships report being boarded by the Borg and loose power

#Wolf359OnThisDay The second wave performs a warp hop to the centre of the system to engage the cube and to try and provide cover for the first wave to disengage, among the ships present is the venerable USS Hood

#Wolf359OnThisDay The Venerable Constellation class starship Constance had no business being at Wolf359, but the ship fought valiantly but ultimately futilely, among the survivors was Liam Shaw who would later become Captain of the USS Titan-A

#Wolf359OnThisDay Onboard the Columbia, Admiral Hanson and his staff look on helplessly as the first wave is decimated. Any attempt at tactical cohesion has gone but Hanson is determined to take the fight to the enemy and orders the rest of the fleet to engage

#Wolf359OnThisDay The first wave of ships manoeuvres in to attack the Cube led by the USS Melbourne and Saratoga. They attempt to probe the cubes defences but are almost immediately cut down.

#Wolf359OnThisDay Onboard the Columbia Hanson sees the probe has had no effect, and the Runabout likely destroyed. Despite overwhelming evidence that the fleet would be no match for the Borg, he orders the fleet to attack and signals to Starfleet 'We have engaged the Borg'

#Wolf359OnThisDay On the Runabout Rhine, Admiral Ross fires the Modified solar probe into the star in the hopes of causing a Supernova. Despite impacting the Star and causing a 0.5 decrease in illumination and a small shockwave it had no effect.

#Wolf359OnThisDay The Borg have arrived at Wolf 359. The Cube comes to a halt directly above the USS Bonestell the fleet holds its breath as Admiral Hanson enacts this desperate plan.

#Wolf359OnThisDay Contact has been lost with a number of sensor buoys the fleet had deployed along approach vectors to the Wolf359 system. Although nothing is currently visible on sensors it is clear that something is approaching the system at high warp, the fleet moves to Red Alert...

With the release of @tranquilitypress.bsky.social / @wolf359project.bsky.social 's "Jayce's Fighting Ships of Wolf 359" fast approaching, I'm revisiting this ship for a hot sec to highlight why I made the structural/design changes that I did to the Rigel class. It ended up VERY clean in the end.

#Wolf359Onthisday Preparations continue in system, the USS Bastion and Constance oversee the modifications to the USS Bonestell and the instillation of the Graviton Pulse Generator and remote guidance systems. There is nothing the fleet can do now but wait.
