I'm currently re-reading The Edge of Midnight (2nd Edition), and, as somebody who likes the Starfleet Battles game, and the 1975 Star Trek Technical Manual, seeing Stephen Cole and Franz Joseph get a loving shout-out was a real treat. These geeks know the assignment. @eomproject.bsky.social

The 'safety values' of 21st and 22nd century Earth would cause significant headaches for the Wescott, McClaren and Sh'Belulos governments in the 2260s and 70s, as competiting visions of utopia were brought together by advances in technology, and the necessities of the Cold War.

Genuinely exciting stuff! Edge of Midnight brings thoughtful worldbuilding to the Star Trek universe in a way that both uplifts the source material while staying faithful to its spirit! I think it's quite neat and cool and I'll def be checking out the audio version!

Toying with the idea of doing my cargo ship blueprints Fact Files style. I didn't really think I would like it as I had my heart set on the Franz Joseph style, but now I think I might go for a kind of scrapbook aesthetic. Like a fan has collected all of the different blueprints over the decades.

I like how, even in the 23rd century, this BBC Radio update still sounds vintage af. I think I was told by @badsocialism.bsky.social that it was deliberate, to transmit audio and video at a galactic scale rather easily. Just another detail I adore about The Edge of Midnight.

Klingon diplomatic theory - or to be specific, Klingon military practices of diplomacy - remained a problem for Federation observers well into the 2290s and 2300s. Arguably misunderstanding how Klingons viewed diplomacy and politics was a key catalyst for the Organian War.
