I've got a few different types of textures layered on top of each other here. The jacket has baked normals, AO, color, etc. and so do the tiling detail maps The material is set up so it blends between corduroy with a cord and a worn version with no cord based on this wear mask:

Fun fact about the Star Trek VI assassin / rad / EVA suit helmets, the mirrored blue visor was allegedly made from uncut materials for Oakley's then new mirrored blue sunglasses, so the helmets in the movie have Oakley logos on the back. Their ~1990 logo is suitably futuristic for Star Trek!

Did a couple last final tweaks and details to the helmet. (These are Substance Painter viewport screenshots with the clear plastic covers to the ears/headphone cases removed for baking, they will be in a separate material.) It's only like 86% accurate but that's fine.

I was unaware that it was the Star Wars: Droids cartoon's 40th anniversary so I did not do anything for it... here is a random test render I did a couple years ago of some of Kybo Ren's captured pirate TIE fighters going after a lambda shuttle.

A couple underrated old pieces of #conceptart from the long-cancelled game #StarCraft: Ghost that really gave you a sense of the scale of things. Love seeing how small the normal dudes playing cards are next to the Terran marines sitting around with them.

Random #StarTrek fun fact that I don't see many results for on the internet: Gene Roddenberry and Isaac Asimov were friends in regular correspondence, and in 1978, Roddenberry asked Asimov to look over the script for Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and to help convince Paramount execs that it was 1/5

Another bit of weird turn-of-the-20th-century dinosaur art... Lawson Wood did a lot of art of cavepeople in anachronistic scenarios with uniquely weird, bristly, dinosaurs around them. One thing I often hated about 2D+3D animation is they often missed that traditional art uses less detail the further away things are. IRL you don't see every panel on a vehicle unless you're up close. If you render 3d art in a 2D movie without something like this you're breaking the social contract.
