Welp, work tomorrow (and Tuesday tho I was only on call Tuesday) cancelled due to high winds :/ on the one hand it was a program I'd never done before so it's nice to have a little more time to prepare (my boss said she might even run an extra training on Tuesday if the winds have died down enough)

I took a contract job (starting ??? sometime in the future, maybe next week) that I really don't want because I'm just drowning and I never even hear back from 99% of jobs I apply for and I don't know what to do and I'm overall very unhappy about everything these days

So I told my local friend I was thinking of going back to grad school and apparently she was ALSO thinking of applying to the SAME school for a PhD program (in a different field) so I was like lol. If we both get in we can carpool

I feel like I must have had more wigs from Amphigory because for a while it was more or less the only place to get cosplay wigs, but the most memorable is probably Shiemi. I still have it! Once again debating if it's worth trying to get into a PhD program. Would I enjoy it? Probably. Do I think it would actually increase my chances at employment? Uncertain! At the very least I'm in a field where you usually get paid to get a PhD and not the other way around...

I finally finished this little experiment based on a theory by @reimenayee.com that I started uuuuuh several years ago. Mea culpa. Quite comfortable and really cute with the little bird peeking out from behind the ear wraps. I feel very fancy!

Since ballet is in the 💾🐎 today, fun fact! Ballet was invented in Italy and popularized by Catherine de' Medici. It was especially popular in France, and the reason it's taught in French these days is more or less because Louis the Sun King really, really liked it

Controversial, but I don't think the solution to a successful convention is to continuously grow bigger and bigger. It seems every time that happens, the prices and lack of accessibility go up. We need more specific conventions to celebrate specific stuff. Less artists making EVERY fandom merch.

Anyways vis-a-vis cosplay for this year I think I will wait some more to do Goddess Umi because I want to do it right and I don't know if I feel up to it this year. I'm thinking I'll do this Yuri Ishtar and a simpler Umi. Maybe keep with the loose white dresses or do this art nouveau one?

Weird opinion question but I found all the stuff I bought to make Vash's glasses and never got around to and I got an itch but I also decided it would be way easier if I picked a metal that can actually be soldered, at least for the frames.

On my mom's side, an engineer (I think he might have helped invent radar?) and orchard farmer. On my dad's side, a teacher. Not sure what subject. He was also an artist, but not professionally (by choice - certainly people occasionally offered to buy his work, but he always said no)
