This election showed that residents want action and collaboration, not division or delay, and they expect us to govern with compassion and never lose sight of our neighbors who are struggling.

The voters sent a clear message. They want a City Council that will move forward, not backward, and that will act boldly on housing, safe streets, and building a city that welcomes everyone.

Voting is at the heart of Democracy and I want to thank everyone who voted on Tuesday. I also want to congratulate everyone who ran for City Council and School Committee. Putting yourself out there takes courage, and every candidate deserves respect for stepping up to serve their community.

I'm a semi regular public commenter and I agree with this wholeheartedly. Cambridge comment is less skewed than many other cities (at least in regard to homeowner status), and less skewed than it used to be because renters here have organized - and it's still pretty bad!

The settings of a specific production goal is important, and even moreso is the implication that the city DOES have a role in keeping market rents affordable through production of more homes in ALL parts of the city. We could use much more of this in the housing discourse in Boston.

He also set a specific goal of building 200k homes across the city in 10 years, so that affordable AND market rate tenants can have "more housing such that they are not being priced out..."

Zohran just said: "I am going to make it easier for the private sector to build housing in this city because what we see today is not labor, it's not materials, it's the wait that is actually costing so many, so much to build that housing" I wish we would hear that as clearly stated in Boston.

I biked home in the dark from North Cambridge recently—which I wouldn’t have felt safe doing before the protected bike lanes. One thing I love about biking in a city is you can stop & check things out in a way you can’t in a car. Like the telescopes on Cambridge Common for Observe the Moon night!
