Hundreds of trials of exercise and rehabilitation have been performed to treat post-infectious chronic illness. Literally hundreds. Dozens more are ongoing and planned, most for LC. Even though literally not a single thing has been learned out of it. Not one damn thing. This industry is a fraud.

Watching public health and infection control handle SARS / Covid this is the least surprising outcome ever.

Governments will not work on solving illnesses like Long Covid and ME/CFS. Even after a predicted increase because of COVID, they will simply lie about it and cover it up. Just as they've always done. The LC community needs to wake up to this. The medical profession will not be helping either.

The full story of chronic illnesses like Long Covid and ME/CFS isn't missed opportunities, it's wasted opportunities. Every tiny step forward, the product of years of work from hundreds to thousands of people, can simply be cancelled. The failure of the medical profession is truly historic here.

Every single window of opportunity and line of scientific inquiry to dig deeper in the field of ME/cfs has been squandered, suppressed or sabotaged. I wish saying this was an exaggeration, but unfortunately for us pwME, it is not.

Post hoc "scientific debate" via the medium of journal correspondence changes absolutely nothing. The key is to publish your absolute drivel in such huge quantity that it cannot be avoided in the literature, and effectively drowns out anyone else. A few key charlatans worked this out early on.

I've been looking at this for a decade now, and I think this is the fundamental flaw in the way that everyone thinks Science is supposed to work, because it doesn't. 1. Publish a load of 💩 2. Get loads of letters about it and publish a false balance. 3. Wonder why nothing ever moves forward. 😩

Nothing has boosted the conspiracy fantasies and antivax communities like medical professionals minimizing the risks of infectious diseases, even arguing they are good for health, and denying the long-term consequences of COVID. It legitimized them by saying all the same things. Giant failure.

Health care services cannot provide services they don't know how to perform. There are no treatments, so unless the clinics are heavily involved in research, which they are not, they are a complete waste of resources. And they sure are. Not a single thing has been achieved here. Not one.

Not surprising, a claim made without evidence, even against evidence, was false all along. This belief stemmed from speculative scenarios about people being bed-bound for weeks with severe illness ending up severely deconditioned. This was always false. Always. A fraudulent lie.

Those are actually the hallmark features of ME/CFS. Medicine has completely botched everything dealing with ME/CFS for decades, has refused thousands of opportunities to do better about it. And yet again it has been botched so completely that the past doesn't even exist, erased from existence.

For years, the opposite has been asserted by thousands of physicians. Without any evidence. Just wishful thinking & hopium. The corrections will not change anything. Lies splashed large on page A1, corrections years later, in small print, and no one in a position to do something about it cares.

Thousands of people warned about this from early 2020. Millions since. The medical profession dismissed it all. Most are still not capable of not blaming TikTok, or whatever. Still nothing is being done about it. Totally passive systemic failure.

Now of course many years have passed, and faces have changed, but the ideology is still broadly the same. That Long Covid is a psychosomatic or so-called "functional" disorder, that has more to do with "lockdowns" than with SARS2 infection per se. It's all through the report.

A more important question is why there is STILL total inaction? Nothing was done about this, despite ample warnings and evidence in early 2020. But that's not the main issue: there is still nothing being done about it. This is not just the past, it's the present and the indefinite future.

I really feel like there must be a course in the public health leadership curriculum on "What to do when you don't know the answer" where the entire content is "Just make something up, everyone who's not one of us is stupid and it's ok if some of them die as long as it protects our authority"

'Forgotten' is passive voice. This negligence is an act, a choice. The refusal to do anything to help those suffering from chronic illness is a choice, made by medical professionals, supported by their institutions. It may poorly excuse the first few months, but nothing has changed since.

The Great Barrington Declaration remains one of the best-timed confidently-wrong statements ever published. Usually there's some wiggle room in the data when it comes to science, medicine, public health, etc; it's rare to make a big generalized assertion that is instantly proven wrong.

Nobody took post/persistent infection illness seriously. You now have 2 to 3 million affected. Why did the medical profession not take this seriously? Questions have to be asked.

That point would be much more convincing if anything good was being done about Long Covid elsewhere, or in the 4 years of normal operations under the Biden administration. Instead there is literally no difference: Long Covid is ignored same as it was, same as chronic illness for decades before.

You can go back 24 years, or 50, or 70, or a 100, and things are still just as bad. Even Long Covid didn't change anything, the medical profession is still locked firmly in its refusal to do anything, prefers to see millions of lives wasted than admit they got anything wrong.

No need to imagine too hard, it already exists: these days it's called the biopsychosocial model of illness, the updated bullshit name for psychosomatic ideology. And not surprisingly, it's disastrous. Adds nothing. Makes everything worse for everyone. Super expensive for zero gain.

Obviously this is a ridiculous claim, but it's not any more false than some of the stuff the medical profession has asserted and acted on. Where psychology meets medicine is a space just as devoid of science or reason as any of the junk RFK Jr is peddling, and one paved the way to the other.

It never sinks in how completely miserable life with chronic illness. Medicine is completely delusional about it. Their descriptions are so far off the mark it's pathetic. I keep reading dystopian scenarios that I would trade for in a heartbeat. People have no idea how miserable this is.

I'm mostly OK with the fact that most people aren't thinking about it. It's not their job. I will never forgive that the people whose job it is to do something about it didn't just do nothing to make things better, almost every single thing they did made everything worse for all of us.
