The worst offenders are big US firms that turn over billions here and pay peanuts in tax, like Amazon - undercutting the high street, partly because they can avoid paying tax - it’s a loophole Labour needs to close. We need an online retail tax based on turnover to avoid the accounting games.

Whereas the commercial abuse of farmers by supermarkets is a much tougher nut to crack. I call on supermarkets to put their money where their warm words are - pay farmers a decent rate for the food they produce.

Tonight, a vigil outside HMP Eastwood Park marks Gaie Delap’s 78th birthday. A grandmother and climate campaigner, unfairly imprisoned for her activism. She should be celebrating at home, not imprisoned for standing up for a liveable planet.

diptera (which by their sizes appear to be of different species) are not subject to a torpid state in the winter, as most winged Insects are. At night, & in frosty weather, & when it rains & blows they seem to retire into those trees. They often are out in a fog.
