22 Sept 1943 // HM Drifter Ocean Retriever sank in the Thames Estuary when she drifted from the swept channel while fishing and caught a mine in her nets, which detonated against the side. All 11 crew died; one man of her regular crew was ashore in hospital and escaped the tragedy. #RoyalNavy #WW2

We went on a walk to Harbour Heights Nature Preserve. What a fascinating place! There are fears of development there (I would NOT buy a house on that geology!); the biodiversity is impressive. We saw swallows, lots of rabbit signs, a tumulus (Iron or Bronze Age?), and cliff views. #SussexCoast
