One of the hardest things to convey as a millennial weeb is how common 4chan use was with weebs during the 2000s, when I used Tumblr in the early 2010s 75% of my gay / trans / feminist nerd friends were ex-channers who were ashamed of their time using 4ch and were happy to be off of it

Though I find it fascinating a lot of people who moved to Tumblr, then Twitter & here, hide the fact they used to use 4ch in the 2000s. I try to be open and honest about it because I believe my time using it as a teen gave me insight into parts of the Internet not everyone understands

There are two types of internet users: People who used old school SA / pre-/pol/ 4chan. And those who did not. A lot of my favorite internet culture critics remember 4chan before /pol/, in all of its parts

hot take: it's actually perfectly normal and okay to dislike a content creator as a person, but also acknowledge when they raise valid points
