Just beat Mega Man 6 and it's really cool to think I can finally say I beat the NES Mega Man games. This one was very forgiving with health items, so it was pretty easy compared to the others, but I do think the jet and power suits are pretty awesome concepts. Onto the X series!

Really happy with how explosive the Metal Sonic has been out the gate! It was actually completely written in August before the Sonic 3 video came out. The plan was always to continue doing the other villains after Shadow last year, but I do wanna refocus on that plan now.

Over the last few days, I beat Mega Man 4 and 5! I think I liked 4 more than 3. Really solid level aesthetics and gimmicks. 5 didn't leave too much of an impression on me, though I didn't think it was bad and it still had some cool moments.

Just beat Mega Man 3! I liked a lot of the levels, but that section in the middle with repeated bosses was a bit of a pain. Then, it got really easy at the end, so pacing was somewhat inconsistent. Still, cool to see the story start to expand.

Along with a bunch of other Sonic games, I just beat Sonic 4 Episode 1 & 2. What a whole bunch of uncanny nothingness. 2 was better visually, but the bosses sucked more. Crazy how anyone even defended this as being a worthy follow-up back then.

I really didn't expect people to like the new video as much as they have, but I'm really happy to see it! It was just meant to be a lowkey side idea but I'm loving all of the comments saying it made them notice/appreciate things they never noticed before about the game.

Finally watched the Golgo 13 film. Nearly every shot of this had something creative and visually interesting going on in it. Great climax and twist. Cool to see Golgo not completely invincible in this.

Just beat Mega Man 2! Definitely a lot better than the first one when it comes to level designs and boss patterns. Some of the final stages had some tough platforming challenges but none of the bosses were crazy hard, especially with their weaknesses! Solid sequel.

As an update on the comic side, I finished reading all of Court of Owls and City of Owls (the first two New 52 Vols). Court was definitely trippy and visually striking, but I think the follow-up diminished the threat of the organization and the main villain was very Hush-esque.

Beat the original Mega Man through the Legacy Collection! Definitely challenging but small enough that you weren't being beaten over the head with the same type of challenge exhaustedly. The continue system ensures you never lose too much progress. Excited to see what comes next.

Just beat that classic Sonic 3 & Knuckles through Sonic Jam on Sega Saturn and you know I had to get those Super Emeralds so I could get that Hyper Sonic ending. Such a massive experience, but hey, that's what the save feature is for. Lava Reef through Doomsday is epic.

Beat Twin Snakes on Gamecube. Everything people say about the MGS2 mechanics making the level design of 1 too easy is true. I do think the cutscenes can be entertaining if you accept them as a Ryuhei Kitamura joint, except that final Liquid moment which was jaw-droppingly bad.

Finished Sonic Unleashed! I never beat the final level back when it came out. It's true that the Werehog levels are overly slow but the stiff platforming over bottomless pits is the worst part. I don't think any boost sequel come close to the rush of the daytime levels here.

Finally beat Sonic Colors on Wii! I can definitely see why this was seen as a breath of fresh air at the time. The writing is more charming than the later games this duo wrote. It immediately lets you play and the levels are extremely replayable. Low key but effective package.

It can’t be overstated how awesome the boss songs in Sonic Frontiers are. Especially the first one and Final Horizon’s final boss.

I beat Shadow Generations last night. Controls felt tighter than both Frontiers and OG Generations, so here's hoping that reflects in full-sized future titles. Was cool seeing returning visuals and characters. Crazy to get such a direct continuation of SA2/Shadow decades later.

Just beat Sonic Frontiers: Final Horizon on Hard. It's free DLC so I can't complain too much about the environment being a bunch of floating blocks. Playing as the other heroes was dope and so was the new ending boss fight. Some of those trials were evil though.

Just beat the main game for Sonic Frontiers. I enjoyed it! Running around and flying all over the place was a lot of fun. Of course, it has design choices derivative of other recent popular games, but I definitely preferred the writing in this compared to the last decade.

I avoided that era of Sonic games for so long that it's surreal finally beating them. I didn't want to skip them, but I did wanna get to Sonic Frontiers after reading a good chunk of the IDW comic. Fingers crossed I like the writing more than the Colors to Forces era.

Just beat Sonic Forces. Even with all the side missions and Shadow DLC, it was only a casual 4 hours long. Flat story and dialogue, really short levels, and there wasn't enough to justify having levels for modern Sonic, classic Sonic, and your OC. Scale/backgrounds were cool.

Just beat Sonic Lost World. It's not as bad as I was led to believe, but it still has some awkward mechanics. Sometimes its cylindrical levels could be thrilling to run down. Dislike the villains, wisps felt stapled on, but I like that they brought back older enemy designs.

Just finished replaying the OG Sonic Generations. Solid gameplay experience that's endearing due to all of the throwback/fan service level themes. I'm not in love with it, since it feels pretty floaty in both 2D and 3D and many moments have awkward scripting.

I read through the first 9 issues of Absolute Batman. Pretty cool to read something that’s a total fresh start. The first arc had some dope moments and the stuff with Bane seems interesting so far. Funny how all of his original villains are his childhood friends/poker buddies.

Just finished the first omnibus for the IDW Sonic comic. Starts out pretty generic but feels like it has shaken off the Sonic Forces relations by the end. I'm interested to see where it goes since the art is nice.

Recently read The Man Without Fear. Solid origin story recap, though it would probably hit better if I knew some of the things it was leading into. So, I've gone back and started reading from issue #158 of the main series to see the original context.

One of my least favorite tropes is when they do a prequel and explain that an established character got one of their defining characteristics by seeing/meeting some guy in the past who just did that thing with no justification themselves.

Thanks to you, I've also started collecting comics. So far, it's been fun.
