Interesting to pass the long closed former New Victoria / Odeon on Clerk St in Edinburgh, with the hoarding door ajar it gives a peek into the foyer… it would be nice to see this place come back to life, so hopefully a sign long delayed works are moving forward again…?

The Odeon Cinema on Renfield St, 1955. It was designed by Verity & Beverly for the Paramount Corporation and opened on 31 Dec 1934. Lavishly decorated, it could accommodate 2,800, and it attracted the largest audiences for a Paramount cinema outside the USA. 📷 Glasgow Museums #glasgow

As the ABC Glasgow foyer block has been removed, we can now see the remains of the original 1875 Panorama building, extended east in 1920s for dance hall & later cinema conversion. Built up the hill, the cinema ground floor was a car park, with stalls on first floor and balcony above.
