A fun Galloway Hoard tea-towel-esque design! Nothing is to scale, and the mix of pre- and post-conservation artefacts (using some low-quality photos I've taken over the years at National Museums Scotland and Treasure Trove in Scotland) are situated and sized to make an image.

An early Anglo-Saxon sword bead is on my desk today, and a beautiful one at that.

Gilt bronze buckle dating to c. AD 500-650. It was found in Grave 95, Finglesham, Northbourne, Kent. 'Decorated with a male holding spears and wearing a horned helmet and belt. This is believed to be a representation of the Germanic god Wōden' Ref. @ashmoleanmuseum.bsky.social LI1326.23 My 📷

I noticed so many details when carving this one - the original has a real beautiful economy of line, it's so carefully designed and executed. If anyone would like one of these let me know - I'm thinking of doing a run of slightly different interpretations later in the year. ⚒️🔥
