At the @metoffice.gov.uk we are very consistent in the language we use to convey certainty & uncertainty. But we also do social science research on what users think as we articulate or illustrate, for example, chance of rain or attribution of extreme events to climate change. The quiz is worth a go!

Thought I’d have a look at istheukhotrightnow.com Note these are anomalies from the 1992-2020 mean not absolute values, but with climate warming faster than 30 year averages can keep pace widespread cold anomalies are relatively infrequent.

Pretty chilly in Stover Country Park on my #MorningWalk but a good chance to test out the newly opened paths while the mud was less squashy.

Arctic air will move down over the UK come the end of the week, with an increasing risk of snow in places ❄️

Also the harbour was full of grey seals, some very close inshore. I guess they had taken refuge from the rough seas earlier in the week

Amazing pod of dolphins off Berry Head today. At least 60 individuals but probably nearer 200. I think these are common dolphins but bottlenose also possible

I managed to miss #FontsOnFriday but here are 3 highlights from St Andrew’s Ashburton. A Tudor church with some exceptional Victorian work, the font, the reredos by Herbert Read and a very fine 3 manual Father Willis organ. Was pleased to see there’s still a choir to benefit from it.
