If you go for longer records: coldest Jan day, hottest month, year, ever: the gap between hot & cold records is even more stark. @metoffice.gov.uk sometimes get challenged on why we “only report the hot records”. Well it’s because we’ve barely see any cold ones at least since I joined in Dec 2018

A duo of #FontsOnFriday from St Andrew’s Buckland Monachorum. The C15th octagon is very nice but it’s eclipsed by that rotund Saxon tub font. That is a full fat font!

A fast moving coronal mass ejection (CME) means the northern lights may be visible overnight, and perhaps on Tuesday night too The arrival time of the CME is uncertain, but aurora sightings are possible in northern Britain and perhaps in southern areas depending on cloud cover.
