Labour doing better than expected in London so far? Must say was presuming the Conservatives would regain Wandsworth, which they nearly but not quite did.

So, Trump has withdrawn 5000 troops from Germany, who were there to protect US interests. Putin will be pleased he’s advised Trump to yet again, harm the USA and advance Russian interests. When are the yanks going to realise Trump is a Russian asset?

It was pretty obvious post the Truss/Kwarteng "budget not budget " cluster fuck (or Trusster fuck) in Sept 22 that Labour were going to win the next GE. They had nearly 2 years to prepare for government, it appears that they did nothing.

I’d love to see a forensic, unbiased analysis of Starmer’s ‘ character flaws ‘. The guy is reasonably new at a massive job which many don’t grasp the magnitude of. He is following 14 yrs worth of imbeciles full of spite & having to contend with fallout from Brexit, hostile media & a lunatic in USA.

The problem—which both the GOP and the milquetoast institutionalists seem to not be grappling with here—is that the more you close off avenues of political change through the democratic process, the more you push people to see extra-institutional mechanisms as their only option

This is a very ugly choice of a day for the UK to embrace fascism quite so enthusiastically. Across Europe we are celebrating liberation from fascist oppression. I don’t think the UK has ever seen the point of celebrating that specifically ... and here we are.

As an aside, I just don't understand how you can enter Government without a theory of the modern state and then complain when it doesn't deliver. It's OK - some deregulation, KPIs and AI will sort it.
