We announced the new native Go FIPS 140-3 mode today! FIPS 140, like it or not, is often a requirement, and I was increasingly sad about large deployments replacing the Go crypto packages with non-memory safe cgo bindings. Go is now one of the easiest and most secure ways to build under FIPS 140.

I wish we had spaces to collaborate on technical work where being a jerk was just not allowed. Like, actual proper fearless moderation. Your reply starts with "No." on its own line? Two weeks ban. Learn to behave. You go on a tear about another participant? One year ban. No warning. Bye.

I wrote up a blog post on our findings with scaling Go to 192 cores per machine and the limits we ran into with the Go runtime here: jazco.dev/2024/01/10/g... It was a really interesting problem to investigate and had us scratching our heads for a little bit but the performance gains are huge.
