A topic that comes up with my games is that they seem one way on the page, but then “reveal themselves” when played. This is an intentional part of the design! I think games are a more powerful experience if they don’t show what they’re really doing until you spend some time with them at the table.

The games are remarkably hard to break once you get the concept of reading aloud game text. Mystery introduction? Read aloud. Moves? Read aloud. Character description? Read aloud. You can run the game with very little knowledge and learn during play.
