Our members have voted to support industrial action to fight against job cuts passed today! In the ballot our 72% of members were in favour of strike action, and 90% in favour of action short of strike. Turnout was 58%. Thank you to all members, reps and officials for helping us get the vote out.

A year on from the University of Dundee's financial crisis being revealed a recovery plan has still not yet been agreed. I am concerned that even at this stage there are differing accounts of the way forward from Ministers, the SFC and the University's leadership. 1/2

The Courier yesterday stated that Nigel Seaton will be staying on for another year. We strongly oppose this reporting. As they mention, Court will have to give final approval But this is reported as a done deal. It isn’t! All Court members should be able to share their views at the next meeting.

Remember when UEG told us “there was no plan B” for further redundancies. Now we know, from the published Recovery Plan, that at the same time they were proposing over 400 future job losses including over 350 redundancies. We cannot trust their words. Vote in our ballot now to protect jobs.

It’s been reported in The Courier that the University of Dundee’s Recovery Plan called for the loss of another 450 jobs (390 FTE) in the next year. 50 Voluntary Severance 170 Voluntary Redundancies 170 Compulsory Redundancies With 110FTE leaving since March and 300FTE now, this would be 800FTE

The University of Dundee has announced it will defer the 1.4% national pay rise for staff in higher education. With inflation above 3% this means hard working staff at the University will be getting at least a 3% real terms pay cut this year.

The University of Dundee have announced that the Interim Chief Finance Officer has left the university today by mutual agreement. He was in post for 10 days. The previous interim Director of Finance left the University as per her contract on Monday.
