It's important not to normalise spreading germs around. If someone is ill with respiratory symptoms encourage them to self-isolate and not attend in person any work or social events (if they can afford it)... or at the very least wear a mask. Haven't we learnt anything from the pandemic?

The Interim Principal clearly said on STV News there would be no redundancies. Now he is trying to make hundreds of us redundant. Was that misleading people? Was it lying? Total ineptitude? Whatever it is, staff and students have no trust in this ‘leadership’.

We need to stop shipping in vastly overpaid, underperforming ‘executives’ who don’t care about OUR university or OUR city. These people (in this picture) are the people who CAN save OUR university.

More job cuts are not necessary. @dundee.ac.uk senior management are ideologically obsessed with them. For reasons unknown they are determined to destroy the institution and, by extension, the city of Dundee.

We realise that opinions can change. If you repeated a statement which no longer reflects your position, you should explain why. Stating you never made the statement in the first place is harmful as it erodes everyone’s trust.

Redundancies were ruled out on three occasions by the most senior staff member at the University of Dundee. Once to STV, once to staff and once in an interview with the Courier. Now they are denying they said it when in front of our elected representatives.

Yesterday our interim Principal, gave evidence to the Education, Children and Young People Committee. He stated that he had never ruled out redundancies. Judge for yourself.

“Open and transparent communication” has been the mantra of the acting Chair of Court and interim Principal since July, following the Gillies report and parliamentary evidence sessions. Well let you decide if that’s being followed.

The Courier yesterday stated that Nigel Seaton will be staying on for another year. We strongly oppose this reporting. As they mention, Court will have to give final approval But this is reported as a done deal. It isn’t! All Court members should be able to share their views at the next meeting.

Remember when UEG told us “there was no plan B” for further redundancies. Now we know, from the published Recovery Plan, that at the same time they were proposing over 400 future job losses including over 350 redundancies. We cannot trust their words. Vote in our ballot now to protect jobs.

The University Recovery Plan submitted by Court and UEG can now be shared. The campus unions are hosting a joint Townhall event to share the plan, so everyone can make their own judgements on what was proposed, including the number of redundancies. Join us this Thursday 12:30 in LT3 Dalhousie.

The University of Dundee has announced it will defer the 1.4% national pay rise for staff in higher education. With inflation above 3% this means hard working staff at the University will be getting at least a 3% real terms pay cut this year.

We are delighted to share that the threat of redundancy has now been removed from two areas that had been targeted - Leverhulme Centre for Forensic Science and Education Assistive Technology. Congrats to our colleagues! We will continue to fight for all staff and the future of University of Dundee.
