I’ve only just started this, and I’m not Catholic myself, but there is a lot here to resonate with. Many here will not want to see anything but a fully anti-AI screed, but IMO it’s much more important to advocate for establishing a foundation where advancement accrues to the many, not the few.

The reason people like the Pope’s AI missive is because there is simply no other institution has taken the side of humanity in the humanities sense. I’m not Catholic, but I am a human who cares about the human mind and the poetics Catholics call a soul.

Pope Leo keeps surprising me. Speaking out against AI in the same encyclical as he apologizes for the Vatican's role in slavery is wonderful, and so far from anything I could've expected while the nuns were bullying me in Catholic school.
