The health UI was a bit too similar to MML... so I added a little compass to the bottom eye! Also improved camera mouse controls and the elevator transition.

I'm almost there it's so pretty!! 😭 this is the first time I've made extensive use of complex numbers in shader code, which has been fun! it's an analytic 2D lighting system through piecewise conformal maps representing angular light/"sky" exposure, which means you get fully analytic penumbras!

more games should have intentionally obscure, or strange, controls that you have to spend time figuring out. without real instruction. there’s something incredibly compelling about treating interaction like a language you learn. i love that about games.

- Another game I abandoned! This one was heavily inspired by bitGenerations: dotstream! This one's built in pico-8 and unlike dotstream there are no lanes, this made it kind of difficult to control, so I learned why they wound up doing that. I added boosters and NPC opponents!

DOOM fully rendered in CSS. Every surface is a <div> that has a background image, with a clipping path with 3D transforms applied. Of course CSS does not have a movable camera, so we rotate and translate the scene around the user.

Bit more sprucin' up the environment, made the track change orientation and mirror at random for diversity, and added them billboards which adjust if the track's mirrored. Not much progress since the last post but hey, chuggin along. Should work on effects now?
