Ghost Song was originally created as a different game in a different engine before I scrapped almost everything about it and started over in 2019. The original version was different in quite a few ways, but to sum it up it was darker, edgier, and had a silent protagonist. #gamedev

This enemy in Ghost Song used Unity blend trees to easily create variation in the posing. Value Blend2 blends between several idle pose animations, and Blend blends those with a walking motion. #gamedev #indiedev #unity3d #solodev

When I needed an enemy that could mutate into a big form, for efficiency I decided to just make one model in Spine2D. Then I made an alternate animation where he's folded up into a smol monster. Then use Unity blendtree to blend between the versions at runtime. #gamedev #indiedev #solodev #unity3d

One of the most extra things I did when making Ghost Song was the on fire fx. Fire sprites line each body part and then the debris of the enemy remain on fire as it dies. It was a pain to set up but I was weirdly obsessed. #gamedev #solodev #indiedev #metroidvania #unity3d
