I mean, I would, if I were them. The US is 100% not to be trusted any more, nor will we be again for a long time, if ever. Even when we get rid of the current feculent toad in what remains of the White House, the US fascist infrastructure will remain and could resurface, like a case of Nazi shingles

No he isn't and he never has been to me. As a rational person I support *actions* not people. Some of his actions I like, many I don't. Politics shouldn't be a fan club or personality contest, that's how we got into this mess.

Cloaks should make a comeback. Yes jackets have a practicality to them but a good cloak can keep you and your back pack or other bags dry in a windy rain unlike many umbrellas. It is also just a cozy blanket if your are cold. I use mine when ever its cold enough around here.

There are SO MANY other ways to effectively fight the the fucking right than screaming into the social media void and making yourself feel as awful as these dickheads actually are. They want to exhaust you here so you feel helpless everywhere else. Fuck them. Conserve your joy, online and off.

If you make a billion dollars — or $500 million or even $100 million dollars — and you keep trying to make more, then there is something seriously wrong with you. It's a mental illness akin to hoarding or drug addiction.

So here's what I wish for us: * we give books as holiday gifts * we get them from our local indie bookstores * we spend time reading with the people and pets we love * when we feel the call, we write * we get enough sun, nutrients, movement, and sleep * we bloom again in springtime & kick ass. 11/11

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar. (Couldn't find a gif too niche I guess)

My biggest challenge in my life has been related to learning what success is TO ME. And what is "enough" for ME. Not for HGTV. Not for the way "things are supposed to be" or what mom or great grandma or anyone else would think of the dog-chewed coffee table. They don't have to live my life. I do.

This part hit hard. I've stopped being around that part of my family. Living my reality is not failure and Im not going to pretend to live a life I don't even want just to keep an old man from making me feel worthless.

AI apologist bro: well that's just the free version. The paid version's way better. Yeah, it's better at making you think it's better. They paid into it so they already have an incentive to believe it and it also might have better programming.... to lie.

"I'm being paid the same now, when I make 500 shirts a day, as I did when I made 50 shirts a day. Where the fuck is the money going?" The popular idea of luddites is entirely due to generations of capitalists trying their damnedest to obscure what is a very simple issue.

It is distressing to have to lie down for half an hour just because I went to the grocery store for 20 minutes. I know that I am not a terrible person for having disabilities and yet my internalized ableism gets me all the time.

September 13, 2026 will be the 20th anniversary, in point of fact. For a brief period of time, my cat Ghlaghghee (pronounced "fluffy") was the most famous cat on the Internet. She took it in stride. One of the great moments of the blog era. We should do something for the anniversary. Suggestions?

This is a practice Ive been doing for at least 15 years. Its for any one of any (or no) faith. The pause to reflect on the past year & prepare for the new is very useful. There is also something comforting knowing others around the globe are doing this too.

Don’t look now…but I think BlueSky has pulled off an old-school Internet magic: a family member passed & left behind a sweet baby husky on the other side of the continent…and BS angels came forward to relay her to me in time to get her out of the shelter. I think my dogbaby’s coming home, guys!

Every once in awhile, I think of my favorite “…the fuck did you just say?” phraseology, which is from Homer’s Iliad, proving we have never, ever changed as a species, only less fancily inclined. “What nonsense has escaped the barrier of your teeth now?”

This is also why service industries continue to enshittify, from Chipotle check out lines to airports to streaming. Vast majority of consumers simply don't matter to the actual functioning of the economy. Corporations do not exist to serve us. They serve the 6000 rich people hoarding all the wealth

I (and perhaps you) get confused because we think intellect has to be connected with wisdom or thoughtfulness, but it just doesn’t. Intelligence is values-neutral and amplifies whatever it is pointed at.

Just to hammer this home- there are no societal problems for tech to solve. We already solved then. We know how to do clean energy. We know how to cut emissions. We have the resources to feed and house everyone. We've shown UBI and univ. healthcare work. We just need to care enough to DO all of it.
