Spent too long organising my notes into folders. Lotta notes I started to catalogue information and never updated as new equipment showed up. Need to spend time doing that later. Maybe I’ll make a stupidly big spreadsheet or databook one day, collating the necessary information.

Kinda of half a mind to return to doing some military illustration stuff as an aside on my world-building project. Its challenging and kinda fun trying to synthesise headwear for horned humanoids. And extrapolating WWII style uniforms from an entirely different set of cultural conditions.

Gonna have a helluva time trying to get my drybrush technique to work for this piece… i might need to get masking fluid…

Working on the linework for an ink piece. Still need to clean my tech pens bc they’re clogged. Despite my intentions to save time, it turns out my perspective machine is too big for my small drafting desk. So i had to freehand the perspective. Still making up my mind on what’s black & whats not.

Man those inks are spectacular.

I’ve had the desire to make art lately, but I don’t feel like reconfiguring my workspace until I’m done with this other work project that needs to be finished.

Need to get back in the shop & build a few jigs, but I haven’t made plans for how the fixtures should work. Just vague ideas.

I need a good sounding board, but presently been unsatisfied. FWG is vexing and unhelpful. I’ve considered a big chat on discord but discord is awful. Maybe this is the reason I return to reddit, but I don’t particularly love reddit either.

I feel like i’m kinda in a writing pitfall right now. I have three different concepts, and they all have kinda the same problems: Secondary characters that don’t work. A plot that has an ending but the middle is lacking. Character roles or motivations for advancing the plot that don’t fit.

Been thinking a bit lately, about how different online life is now, compared to a decade and a half ago. It’s an enormous gulf qualitatively between 2010-2015 and 2019-2025. In ways that frankly I’m still grappling with.

I think I need to maybe just write out my works by hand, but i’ve been pretty unsatisfied with that as a process

I think i’m generally dissatisfied with a lot of camera bags bc they barely fit a full frame dslr, and reasonably sized lenses. Granted I shoot a lot of stuff more cumbersome & awkward too. But i don’t want a whole ass backpack when going on a photowalk.

…kinda wanna snag this animation disk I’m seeing online. But I’d have to get a pair of pegbars machined to match. And I’d need to get a piece of glass cut. Ideally with grid lines etched into the verso. And I’d have to build a desk for it to sit in, but that’s the least onerous.

I’m months late for pride because I never finished the original sketch, so here!

In other news: Testing a new to me Ciro 35. This is the pretty rare higher spec model, with a rapax synchromatic (instead of the alphax), and the ƒ/2.8 wollensak tessar design, instead of the ƒ/4.5 or ƒ/3.5 triplet design that other models used. So i’m expecting a little more of this.

I do think things are a lot crappier now in terns of life online. After the whole verizon tumblr fiasco, and musk twitter bs, being an artist online or being in furry or queer spaces online (or even offline) feels degraded compared to even a few years ago.

It is late in the day of, but Halloween means I need to draw some pumpkin hoods. Didn't last year, so made sure I did this year.

Otherwise the gorget will just be built from sheet goods. Idk where to source sheet rubber that’s like ⅛ or ¼” Also don’t want to fight the bacon strips. (Long slender strips will curl up). But pattern drafting would be easy since i’d be draping it for just me. Idk if i’ll use a zipper.

Honestly depending on how the pull from this goes, I may be forced to model this design again with a digital workflow, and do a 3D printed mould. But tbd on that. I may wind up doing that anyways for the gorget, just depends on how feasible that is.

Got distracted by this again. Getting closer to being symmetrical. Callipers help but only so much. Just deciding on whether the cheek feature should be broadened or not. And whether the “ear” feature should be modelled together or not. Still leaning toward a separate cast for “metal” bits.

Slmewhat disappointed by halloween this year. Will do better next year.

In other news, made sliced baked potatoes, lamp chunks in onions garlic and rosemary, and zucchini (which was freezerburned oops). Came out pretty good. May have used too much butter.
